Why do so many businesses fail, both in the traditional world of retail shops and stores, and also those based on the web? Starting a business without enough cash to fund it is probably the most common mistake of any new start-up. But why is this so? After all, once the doors open for a new shop, or a home based businessman or woman publishes his or her website online, shouldn't that be enough to get things going? And even if a new start-up is under-funded, as soon as the sales start coming in, everything will be all-right--right? Absolutely not. Being strapped for cash when getting a new business going is nearly suicide. Just look at all the businesses that fail within the first few years. They don't have enough money to weather the storm, and secondly, they didn't have a consistent and ongoing marketing plan to promote themselves. But what is a person to do then--not go into business in the first place? Most businesses don't make it because they don't have a plan. You have to be able to crunch the numbers to succeed. Open your doors when the numbers make sense--and not until then.
There was a survey done recently interviewing a number of billionaires to find out what were the common traits, if there are any, shared by those who become super wealthy. One trait, common to all was the ability to crunch numbers. What does this mean? Billionaires figure out what the numbers tell them when it comes to risk, investments, spending, stock trades, potential profits, potential losses, and just about everything else. If you don't know what the numbers require in your business to pay your bills, stock inventory, advertise, know customer spending and buying habits, be able to analyze daily traffic that goes by your store or that visits your website, you can't possibly form a plan sound enough to make a profit--unless you get lucky. And who wants to rely on luck when it comes to your livelihood?
Everything is not so bleak, however. You can create a marketing plan that is both consistent and free. With the advent of such social networking sites like YouTube, Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, any person can plaster their message all over the internet without having to pay a cent. Four or five years ago this wouldn't have even been possible. If you already have a business you must start a marketing campaign now. If you are looking to open one for yourself, make sure that you are ready. If you don't have the money, there are several good network marketing companies online that can let you get started with them virtually for free. Some of the best opportunities out there have more profit potential than any that require you to put your life savings on the line. Do some homework, be smart, and take action today toward your goals.
