Research Your Job For That Winning Interview by Eric Foor

If you want to be successful at life and get that job you want, you will have to win at the interview. Doing that can be easy or hard, depending on how experienced you are at interviews, what job you are going for and how much you know about the company. There can be more determining factors, but these mainly important for you to focus on.

If you are planning to interview for a simple job at Wal-Mart or McDonald's, then you only need to practice a little bit on your interviewing skills, if at all. You will be asked basic questions about how to handle certain situations, mathematical questions (if you are going for cashier) and probably ethical questions. They all vary from job to job, as stated before, but that is because not every job is having you cook or ring up an order.

A lot of companies have products they would like to sell and even a website. Checking up on what products and what they are about on their website is a good start. Finding the goals of the company, who you would be working with, how important your job is and virtually any information that you can get hold of, can help in the interview.

The website should have multiple pieces of information listed such as store/business locations, products with product descriptions and prices. Knowing the products inside and out are essential for any salesperson. Write down your strengths and weaknesses, then compare them to the company and see if that is what they would be looking for. Try and turn your weaknesses in to strengths so that way the interviewer will see that you have more strengths then weaknesses.

If you are given any information by the company, such as catalogs or recruitment brochures, try and memorize what is on them. Anything that you can find, you should study for a couple hours and get really familiar with them, as if you have been working with them for awhile. Try and find any services that they also might offer.

Finding out as much information that you can is important to your interview and for getting hired in. If you want them to take you seriously, they will need to know them you agree with what they do and are enthusiastic to work with them. They care if you have a good personality, but no knowledge of a company is a swift way to get a dismissal from an interview. And remember, if you get accepted for an interview, you have already beaten a large amount of candidates that sent in their resume, just like you!
